KOTOTAMA COMMUNITY ACUPUNCTURE
How is it different from standard community acupuncture?
Kototama-style acupuncture offers a more personalized and hands-on experience than most community acupuncture clinics. Standard community acupuncture treats as many as 6 clients at a time. We treat two clients per session.
Instead of reclining chairs, we use massage tables so bodywork and deeper energetic balancing can be included. Each session involves ongoing attention from your practitioner, not just placing needles and walking away. Throughout your treatment, we recheck your pulse, make gentle adjustments, and stay engaged with your body’s responses to support a more complete and individualized healing process.
Before you arrive
You’ll stay fully clothed during your session, so wear something loose and comfortable that allows access to areas below your elbows and knees.
I
To help you get the most out of your treatment:
- Arrive
5–10 minutes early to settle in
- Have a light snack within a few hours of your appointment
- Go easy on caffeine before your session
- Use the restroom before getting cozy
- Keep talking to a minimum so everyone can enjoy the calm
During your treatment
We’ll start by checking in to see how you’ve been and take your pulse to help guide where we place the needles.
We use sterile, single-use needles. They’re very thin, and most people barely feel them. You might notice a gentle sensation or a mild, achy feeling that quickly fades.
Many people feel so relaxed they drift off for a nap.
This is your time to rest and recharge. Focus on your breath, let your thoughts slow down, and allow your body to unwind.
Blankets are available, and you’re welcome to bring earplugs or headphones if that helps you relax.
Sessions last about 45 minutes. If you have to leave by a certain time, just let us know, we’ll keep track for you. When your treatment is complete, we’ll remove the needles and make sure you leave feeling grounded and refreshed.

Frequency
___
Acupuncture works best when it’s consistent:
- 2 times a week when symptoms are intense
- Once a week as things improve
- As needed for maintenance or overall wellness
We offer both private and community style acupuncture so that it's consistent, accessible, and affordable.
Healing takes time — think of it as teaching your body to find balance again.
Many people come regularly simply because it helps them stay centered, grounded, and well.
Payments
___
We offer a sliding scale of $45–$80 per session — you choose what feels right for your situation. There’s no income verification or pressure.
Our community acupuncture model keeps care affordable by treating clients in a shared space. Many people find that being in a group setting adds to the sense of calm and connection — a shared energy that supports everyone’s healing.
We prefer cash to help keep costs low, but we will accept checks, Venmo, and cards if absolutely necessary. If you pay by card, adding a dollar or two helps cover processing fees — thank you!
Cancelations
___
Life happens — we understand! If you need to cancel or reschedule, please give us at least 24 hours’ notice so we can offer the spot to someone else.
Late cancellations or no-shows will be charged $45, as that time is reserved just for you. If an emergency comes up, let us know — we’ll happily help you find another time.
Thank you for your interest. We look forward to meeting you!
