Somatic Experiencing

This body-centered therapy was created by Dr. Peter Levine. It was developed as a way of restoring balance to a traumatized nervous system. S.E. is predicated on the idea that traditional talk therapy, which engages the higher analytical functions of the brain, does not fully take into account the place where trauma is actually held: the body. Somatic Experiencing allows clients to experience a greater sense of calm, self-awareness, and connection to others by offering a more embodied way of being in the world.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is beneficial for treating depression, anxiety, and other mood disorders because it regulates the emotions by balancing the flow of energy in the body. It stimulates the production of endorphins, which are essential for mental health and wellbeing. Endorphins are “feel good” chemicals released in the brain. The presence of intentionally placed needles draws awareness and calls on the body's natural capacity to self regulate and heal itself.

Somatic Bodywork

This modality helps to release trauma that has been stored in the tissues as physical and emotional tension, pain and dysfunction. Touch acts as a stress regulator, drawing attention to emotion that is hidden from our awareness. It compliments other therapies, supporting the work of psychotherapy, somatic experiencing, and other modalities that heal emotional trauma and promote a sense of ease and well-being.
